Why Adults Seek a Psychiatric Evaluation

Adults come with very different histories. These are some of the usual reasons:

Long-standing attention or organization difficulties

Focus, follow-through, and time management that have affected work or home for years.

Conflicting diagnoses

Different clinicians have offered different explanations over the years.

A childhood diagnosis worth revisiting

A label from years ago that doesn’t seem to describe the adult you are now.

Anxiety or mood symptoms

Persistent worry, low mood, or swings that affect sleep, relationships, or daily life.

Treatment that hasn’t brought enough relief

Medication or therapy has helped only partly, or not at all.

Strain at work or in relationships

Symptoms are affecting performance, family responsibilities, or the people closest to you.

Concerns Dr. Hubsher Evaluates in Adults

Adults often come in with more than one concern, and symptoms that have built up over years can be hard to untangle. Dr. Hubsher looks at how they connect.

These concerns often feed each other, so Dr. Hubsher looks at the full pattern, including childhood history, instead of settling on the first explanation.
ADHD and attention concerns: attention, organization, time management, and follow-through
Anxiety: persistent worry that affects concentration, sleep, and daily life
Depression and mood disorders: low mood, lost motivation, and effects on memory and productivity
Bipolar disorder and mood instability: mood swings and irritability that can be mistaken for something else

What the Evaluation Looks Like

Dr. Hubsher reviews your symptoms, treatment history, and how past medications worked, along with how they affect your work, relationships, family responsibilities, sleep, and daily life.

There’s time for your goals and questions. You leave with clear feedback and a conversation about your options.

Medication Management for Adults

Medication is one option among several. When Dr. Hubsher recommends it, he explains what he is suggesting and why. Follow-up visits monitor symptom improvement, side effects, mood stability, sleep, work performance, and relationships.

Therapy and ADHD or executive-function coaching are separate services provided by the Center’s therapists.
