Therapy Services
Therapy Services
Individualized therapy and practical support for emotional, behavioral, and executive-function concerns.
Therapy at the ADHD, Mood & Behavior Center provides children, adolescents, adults, and families with ongoing support for concerns that affect daily life, relationships, school, work, and emotional well-being.
Center therapists work with patients on concerns such as anxiety, mood, attention, executive functioning, emotional regulation, behavior, and family challenges. The focus depends on the individual, their goals, and the therapist who is the best fit for their needs.
Therapy may be used on its own or alongside psychiatric care. You do not need to be a patient of Merritt Hubsher, MD, to inquire about therapy services at the Center.

How Can Therapy Help?

Anxiety & Mood Support
Anxiety and mood concerns can affect thoughts, emotions, relationships, sleep, school, work, and everyday functioning.
Therapy provides a setting to better understand these patterns and develop strategies for managing them. The specific approach depends on the patient, the concerns being addressed, and the therapist providing care.
For patients who also have questions about diagnosis or psychiatric medication, therapy can complement a separate psychiatric evaluation when appropriate.

ADHD & Executive-Function Coaching
Attention and executive-function difficulties can affect organization, planning, time management, task completion, school responsibilities, work, and everyday routines.
Our therapists provide practical coaching and support to help patients strengthen skills and develop strategies that fit their individual needs.
ADHD and executive-function coaching is a therapist-led service. It is separate from Dr. Hubsher’s psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and medication management for ADHD.
For some patients, these services may complement one another as part of a broader treatment plan.

Parent Support & Parent Training
When a child or adolescent is struggling with behavior, anxiety, emotional regulation, attention, or other concerns, parents may need support as well.
Therapist-led parent support can help parents better understand patterns at home, respond more consistently to difficult situations, strengthen communication, and develop practical approaches for everyday challenges.
The work is shaped around the family’s concerns rather than assuming the same strategy will work for every child or household.

Family Therapy & Social Support
Emotional or behavioral concerns can affect relationships throughout a family. Changes at home, communication difficulties, conflict, and other family challenges may also influence how an individual is functioning.
Family therapy can provide a setting to work on communication, relationships, and patterns that are affecting family life. Our therapists may also provide support related to social skills, communication, relationships, and interpersonal functioning when relevant to the patient’s needs.
The goals and structure depend on the individual or family’s circumstances and the therapist providing care.

Meet Our Therapists & Find the Right Fit
Finding the right therapist involves more than choosing a type of therapy. Age, concerns, goals, provider experience, communication style, appointment format, and availability can all affect fit.
Our therapy team works with different populations and areas of concern. Individual therapist profiles provide more information about each clinician’s background, focus areas, and approach.
Therapy may be available in person or virtually depending on the clinician, service, patient location, and individual circumstances. Our front desk can help identify available therapists and appointment formats that may fit your needs.

How do therapy & psychiatric care differ?
Therapy and psychiatric care can address related concerns, but they serve different roles.
Therapists provide ongoing emotional, behavioral, family, and skills-based support. Dr. Hubsher provides psychiatric evaluation, diagnostic clarification, second opinions, and medication evaluation and management.
Some patients receive only therapy. Others receive psychiatric care without therapy at the Center. When both are appropriate, the services can work alongside one another while maintaining their distinct roles.
If your primary concern involves uncertainty about a diagnosis, questions about psychiatric medication, multiple previous diagnoses, or treatment that has not worked as expected, you may want to begin by exploring the Center’s psychiatric services.
