Parent Support & Parent Training
Practical, therapist-led support for parents navigating behavioral, emotional, and everyday family challenges.
When a child or adolescent is struggling, parents often have questions of their own. How should we respond to this behavior? Are our expectations realistic? Why does the same argument keep happening? How can we be more consistent without turning every responsibility into a conflict?
Parent support and parent training at the ADHD, Mood & Behavior Center give parents a place to work through these challenges and develop practical approaches for home and family life.
This is a therapist-led service. Parents and children do not need to receive psychiatric care from Dr. Hubsher to inquire about parent support.

When Do Parents Seek Support?
Families often reach out when emotional, behavioral, attention, or communication difficulties begin to affect everyday routines, relationships, and responsibilities at home.
These concerns do not point to one diagnosis or one solution. Parent support starts with what is happening within the family and the situations parents are trying to manage.

What Does Parent Training Focus On?
Children differ in age, temperament, developmental needs, and the reasons behind their behavior, so parent training isn’t a universal set of rules. A therapist helps parents look at what happens before, during, and after difficult situations and develop more consistent, practical ways to respond at home.
Parent Support for ADHD and Executive-Function Challenges
ADHD and executive-function difficulties can create recurring tension around homework, morning routines, chores, organization, and follow-through. Parents may find themselves repeating the same instructions or revisiting the same responsibilities every day. Parent support can help families identify these patterns and develop more workable routines and responses.
When a child or adolescent also needs direct help with planning, organization, time management, or task completion, ADHD & Executive-Function Coaching may provide additional therapist-led support.

Supporting Emotional and Behavioral Challenges
Behavior rarely occurs in isolation. Anxiety, mood, frustration, attention difficulties, developmental factors, and family stress can all influence what happens at home. Parent support allows parents to look beyond the immediate conflict and better understand the patterns surrounding it.
This does not mean assuming a particular diagnosis. If there is significant uncertainty about what is contributing to a child’s symptoms, a psychiatric evaluation may help clarify the broader clinical picture.

Do Parents Need to See Dr. Hubsher First?
No. Parent support can be accessed independently of Dr. Hubsher’s psychiatric care. Families primarily looking for parenting guidance can inquire directly about therapy. When there are also unresolved questions about diagnosis, psychiatric medication, overlapping symptoms, or previous treatment, the Center’s psychiatric services can be explored separately.
