Our Treatment Philosophy
ADHD, Mood & Behavior Center's philosophy is based
on the belief that the traditional approach to treating children
with emotional, behavioral, social and academic difficulties does not
always meet the child's needs. In other settings, children see a therapist
in one location, a psychiatrist for an evaluation or medication in another
location, a learning consultant somewhere else, and family therapy or
parent coaching in still another setting. It is all too fragmented, and
there is rarely any coordination of the child's treatment by the various
professionals since communication among them rarely takes place. As a
result, the child's treatment is disjointed and lacks coordination and
direction.
ADHD, Mood & Behavior Center is a "child therapy Center", where all our professionals work together to design a coordinated treatment plan for each child, adolescent, family or adult, one that makes sense and is effective. We treat each individual child or adolescent, not his or her 'diagnosis'. We work with parents, not in isolation from parents. You are our partner in helping your child.
Our philosophy is to always work together with our patients' healthcare providers. It is our feeling that our patients are always best served when we are all working together, in a coordinated fashion, to help each child. It is in that spirit that, from the first visit, we contact the child's pediatrician or the adult's physician, as well as any other involved professionals, in order to create a 'team' that is working together to help you.
